Horn Tootin' Time!

  • Oct. 24th, 2007 at 8:52 AM

So I recently found out that my novel Alpha Dog is a finalist/runner-up for the 2007 Teddy Book Award.  Woo hoo!

The awards ceremony will take place at the upcoming Texas Book Festival, followed by a discussion panel.  So if you are interested, or were planning to attend the festival anyway, please note the presentation will take place on Saturday, November 3, from 3 to 4 p.m. in Capitol Extension Room E2.030.

Come with questions for me for the author Q&A!  Seriously.  I'll answer anything.

Want to know about writing?  I'll tell you some tricks I've learned these past 10 years.  Have questions about the book?  I'll give the inside scoop on Alpha Dog.  Curious about me?  I'll do my best to answer.  Need tips on dealing with a middle schooler?  Well ... sorry.  Can't help you there.  (Insert smiley emoticon of your choice.)

And here is a complete schedule:

Hope to see you there!

totally ot but...
I wanted to tell you that I love HOW NOT TO BE POPULAR and I am so excited for it to come out so I can sell it. It's one of my favorite teen novels of the last several years (like, in my top 5) and I sent in a blurb for the Booksense picks, so hopefully they pick it. It is so, so, so good.

(Somehow we missed Alpha Dog entirely but I will be rectifying that very soon.)

Wow, thanks, Melissa! I'm so happy you liked my quirky book (my "second born" -- as I sometimes refer to it). And thank you for submitting a blurb!

I've heard about CBW. You guys are awesome! I'm a big fan of independent booksellers, and you guys do so much to encourage reading in young people. (Tough work in this day of gizmos.) Looks like great fun and I hope to someday visit.

Enjoy Halloween with that beautiful baby!
